We surveyed 50 teenagers to track if gender had a correlation to financial confidence. Here's what we found:

On average, males rated their confidence in their financial knowedge at a 3.5 out of 5

The average rating for females on their financial confidence was a 2.63 out of 5

When asked if parents/guardians taught them about finance, the most common answer was "Yes, a little"

Many parents taught their kids about investing, saving, and budgeting

Parents tended to overlook teaching teens about topics like credit and taxes
Neither of these numbers are high—at Smart Savings, we are working on making sure teens can get their financial confidence to at least a 4 out of 5. Specifically closing the gender gap in financial knowledge is one of our main goals.
